2008 Dodge Nitro Tipm Recall

2008 Dodge Nitro Tipm Recall – I have a 2007 R/T that has given me moreno problems and headaches for as long as I can remember. I’m 99.99% sure that all my problems are related to a faulty TIPM, but before I spend the money to replace it, I thought I’d pick the brains of the right people to make sure I’m doing the right thing…

No brake lights (top brake light bar works when activated, rear brake lights don’t activate, but when headlights are on, they come on when they’re on’)

Intermittent fuel pump relay problems (sometimes the vehicle won’t start but will start. If the vehicle starts it sputters and as soon as you try to give it gas it shuts off. I disconnected the battery and TIPM and when I put everything back together everything works for a while then the problems returns)

Nitro Limp Mode

Must be TIPM, right? If so, are any of the TIPMS interchangeable with my vehicle or do I need them SPECIFICALLY for the ’07 R/T? If it helps, the TIPM part number is KAD09C02B5. I really appreciate any input and advice I can get. Thanks in advance!

New online $500-700 Can be used for less. But (used) must be TIPM from Nitro and same engine.

But beware, not all TIPMs are created equal. Reman or new sometimes don’t come with any programming. If you decide to go through new/reman online, be sure to specifically ask if it comes with specific VIN programming already installed. Simply ordering with your VIN is not always enough.

When used, it should have enough programming to get you to a dealer who can program the specific VIN programming required.

Several members here have successfully installed a used TIPM from Nitro with the same motor. (Avoid the 08 TIPMs if possible, they seem to have more problems than others. Also the 07 TIPMs had to be reprogrammed for wiper recall.

Thank you for your response. I’ve only had the Nitro since Feb ’18 but I don’t see any external relays so I’m inclined to assume that the wipers have not been retracted…

So if I understand correctly, if I can find a TIPM that was v/made for the 4.0L engine, I should be fine? Isn’t the year important? I have heard of “plug & play” TIPMs that require no programming, is this information false? Thanks again for your quick reply Scar0… I sure appreciate it…

I also have a 2007 R/T 4×4 Nitro with a 4.0L V6 engine, 5 speed automatic transmission and have had TIPM problems for “years”. I have replaced my TIPM twice, once with a reconditioned TIPM ($350) that didn’t work at all in my Nitro, and then with a brand new TIPM that I think I bought on eBay for about $500-$600. The new TIPM seemed to work fine for about 6 months, but my electrical problems returned when the wet weather from last winter arrived. Whoever you buy your replacement TIPM from, make sure they have a return policy that you can agree to if it doesn’t work in your Nitro.

I still haven’t figured out what’s causing my electrical problems but I’m hesitant to buy another TIPM after I sent my 3rd TIPM to the TIPM repairman and they sent it back saying there was nothing wrong with it that would they could find, and the Nitro they have “in place” ran fine with my TIPM installed. If you are interested in sending your TIPM to someone who can test and/or repair it, look up Circuitboard Medics in South Carolina, they are honest and ethical guys.

Great advice. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I will definitely keep all of this in mind in my search…

Your door lock, the wiper problems are probably a TIPM problem (internal relay cannot be repaired), I had the same problem (M38 fuse keeps blowing), I read on the TIPM dealers website that the fuel pump is also a TIPM (internal relay) problem because it resets and everything works fine for a while, I suspect TIPM,

But before spending that kind of money I would check ALL the battery cables on each end, the connectors and the Pod wiring harness and from TIPM one member found that some of the wires under the TIPM are frayed on parts of the metal structure.

Pop the hood and look at the fender on the driver’s side. Outside the brake fluid reservoir is where the 2 relays were called.

Hi, I know the broken door locks are part of tipm because I had that problem in tipm, it went away and I have a 2010 SXT. I found a preprogrammed tipm reman on the internet I mean the site was Emblema but now I can’t pull it up. And it cost me about $350, I guess I should go back and check my emails

Hello – Here are a few things to look at that many people forget. Has your Nitro been modified with stock lights, a towing package, or some other aftermarket product that requires power to operate?

If so, make sure it has not been installed by direct connection (wire nut or blunt connector) to the wiring harness. This will cause a voltage drop for all other OEM parts and build up
