Be part of some of the most amazing and rewarding humanitarian projects by joining our 2 week programs in South East Asia, South Africa, Fiji and Ecuador next year. VESA’s humanitarian and conservation projects aim to provide direct action support to communities in parts of the world that are overlooked by traditional charities and aid organisations. Read below what you can do in each of these programs and how you can apply to be part of our biggest changes yet when it’s safe to travel.

ECUADOR Every morning you will take a canoe to an otherwise inaccessible indigenous community and help with our infrastructure and education projects. The mission of your construction project is to build bathroom/toilet blocks for the indigenous communities on either side of the Napo River. Many of these villages do not have access to toilet facilities and usually use the river. You will make a big difference by changing this in your building projects, which in turn helps hygiene and nature. The educational project takes place in the primary school, where you help teach basic English to children aged 5-12.

If You Want To Change The World For Better, Should You Work In A Think Tank?

FIJI ISLANDS Have you ever dreamed of living a completely different lifestyle? This is your chance at a traditional Fijian homestay. The infrastructure project will see you work with local people and the VESA team to build compost and incinerators for the village, and the education project will give you the opportunity to teach geography, maths and science to local primary school children through lessons and games basic. You will also have the opportunity to work on replanting coral reefs while learning and seeing all the underwater life and helping the most endangered species of sea turtles on the islands.

SOUTH AFRICA We cover a wide range of opportunities in Africa, including infrastructure, education and conservation projects. You will work closely with children teaching English and basic hygiene, hygiene and nutrition through games and activities. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to give new life to the village facilities with a fresh coat of paint, build new homes for families in need, play equipment and help build bathrooms and kitchens with our skilled craftsmen. Your wildlife projects include helping with the rehabilitation and rescue of crocodiles and cheetahs alongside experts.

LAOS There are many elephant programs running across South East Asia, and it can be difficult to know which ones are ethical and directly benefit the elephants, not the tourists. Stay in a remote elephant sanctuary (zoology and animal science plots available) and get up close and personal with the residents. In rural Sayaboury, the community suffers from a severe lack of resources. Helping experts with the elephants is truly rewarding and an unforgettable experience. As well as teaching young children English, basic hygiene, nutrition, recycling and waste management, we will continue our building project in 2021 – providing a brand new building with three classrooms.
