How Much Is Sage Software – Sage 50, Sage 50cloud, Sage 50c, Sage Accounts, Line 50, Sage Line 50, 50 Accounts – these are some of the many names I hear as a Sage consultant for over 15 years and this is not an exhaustive list and is a polite version.
Let’s start with the name, officially all of the above refers to the same software, Sage 50cloud Accounts. There are two versions of this, standard and professional (more on this part later). To keep it simple, I’ll call it Sage 50.
How Much Is Sage Software
In short, this is a desktop accounting software that can help all small and medium businesses with their main accounting needs. Whether it’s managing debtors and creditors to submitting your VAT digitally online to HMRC in the UK or Inland Revenue in Ireland.
Sage Accounting Software
It has a very user-friendly interface and once installed, configured and available, anyone can use it without having to know everything about double-entry bookkeeping.
This updates Sage and has links to relevant legislative changes such as Brexit and Coronavirus – very useful.
Sage 50 is used by many businesses in the UK and Ireland for day-to-day accounting transactions.
In many businesses, it is used to enter invoices (under the out-of-the-box provision) and track accounts payable.

These invoices can be edited to include your logo and any text you wish to add regarding payment terms, bank details and we are here to support you with this.
Sage 50 is practically a universal accounting solution for all industries. Mainly used by the small to medium segment. Sage 50 can help you manage and grow your business by moving your accounts from a paper-based, often Excel-based system to a digital alternative.
In my experience, Sage 50 is a great fit for companies looking to implement new processes and compliance in their accounting. With better reporting and quality data processing, they want to have greater visibility, decision making and performance control.
Unbeknownst to many new and existing Sage 50 customers, there are also specific settings that can be enabled for charities and NFPs (screenshot below) as well as project costing and CIS.

Both have the same basic functions in terms of simple accounting practices, invoicing, cash flow management and VAT submission (below).
Professional has many more features and functions, especially in relation to ordering, inventory control (such as the Bill of Materials below), multi-user access and reporting.
I know the word Cloud is used in “Sage 50cloud Bills”, but that is not an inherent part of the cloud software. To use the product, you must fully install it on a compatible Windows computer. You can connect remote users to the cloud-connected version of the data from your primary site or user.
If you need a true cloud accounting package, Sage 200 Standard or Sage Intacct are better options. You can explore the benefits of cloud accounting software here and what products are available in the cloud

Sage 50cloud Premium Accounting is a powerful accounting application for small and medium businesses with comprehensive financial tools and many customization options.

Sage 50cloud Accounting is small business accounting software designed for desktop use rather than being exclusively online. It’s the most comprehensive, flexible accounting program we’ve reviewed, though it does more than many small businesses need and costs a bit more, too. In addition to its powerful feature set, it has integration with Microsoft 365. This powerful and innovative connection helps compensate for the fact that you have to install Sage 50cloud Premium Accounting locally, although some of its data can be accessed remotely. . Since Sage 50cloud Premium Accounting is only available for Windows, it is at a disadvantage compared to the best online accounting services that allow users to access them from any device with an Internet connection.
Sage 50cloud Premium Accounting is in some ways more sophisticated than any other budget accounting website. However, its complexity—and high subscription costs—may make it less attractive to small, simple businesses. Best suited for businesses that need more advanced features and flexibility, hate desktop software, and have remote employees. The Editors’ Choice winners for SMB accounting are Intuit QuickBooks Online Plus and Zoho Books Premium. Both are cloud-based, which means you can access them from almost anywhere. They tend to be the best choices for SMBs based on their balance of features, ease of use, and customization options.

The Sage 50cloud Accounting series consists of three plans. Pro Accounting starts at $57.17 per month for one person. Premium Accounting, which is the tier used for our testing, starts at $92 per month for one user. Quantum Accounting starts at $152.42 per month for one user. If you pay annually instead of monthly, you get a small discount on all plans. Integration with Microsoft 365 Business adds $180 per year to any plan. New users get a 40% discount for one year. All plans are on a one-year contract and all will automatically renew.
Each plan offers full payment and receivables functionality, as well as inventory management, integrated payroll and reporting. Premium Accounting adds many features including industry-specific functionality, advanced budgeting and job costing. Quantum Accounting is more sophisticated with additional features such as workflow management and role-based user rights.

Sage Vs. Quickbooks: Features & Price Comparison 2022
Editors’ Choice winner Intuit QuickBooks Online has nearly comparable costs. For example, Intuit QuickBooks Online Essentials costs $55 per month (includes annual customer support). Intuit QuickBooks Online Plus costs $85 per month. And Advanced is $200 per month. New users get 50% off for the first three months.
Zoho Books, another Editors’ Choice winner, costs less. Its free plan is designed for businesses with less than $50,000 in annual revenue and one user (plus an accountant). Zoho offers five paid service levels ranging from $20 (Standard plan) to $275 per organization per month (Ultimate), allowing businesses to choose the service level and price that best suits their needs.
While the Sage 50cloud Accounting family does almost everything a small business needs, if it doesn’t offer enough for you, look for solutions that fall into the mid-range accounting space. In fact, Sage offers many of these more sophisticated applications with products like Sage 100cloud, Sage 300cloud, and Sage Intacct.
Sage has decades of cloud experience and expertise. The company uses cybersecurity tools, technologies and best practices to protect its systems, devices and data wherever they are. Data is encrypted using the latest recommended versions of the internationally recognized Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. In addition, Sage says it proactively monitors for vulnerabilities in its software that could be exploited by a cyber attacker.
