Clio for Clients is Clio’s new client portal feature that allows attorneys to communicate with their clients from the Clio Communications tab and the Communications sub-tab of a matter, to be accessed from their client’s mobile or tablet device (iOS and Android), or from a computer.

Before your customers have access to Clio for customers, a customer portal must be created for them so that you can send messages and documents. You can create a customer portal either from the main communication tab or from the communication sub-tab of the item.
Enable The Client Portal
When you create a customer portal, you and the customer will be pre-populated as participants, however, you have the option to fully customize who you want to access the customer portal. You can choose to add other users of your account so that they can stay updated on the conversation and other contacts that may be related to it. Please note: Any contact participant will have access to all messages and documents shared through the customer portal.
Once the customer portal is created and participants have been added, you are ready to start sharing messages and documents with your customers. For more information on how to send messages and documents click here.
Once a customer portal is open, it cannot be deleted, however, there are ways to revoke access to individual items or the entire portal. To revoke a customer or contact’s access to the customer portal simply remove them as a participant by hovering over their contact and clicking the X. Once removed, they will no longer have access to shared messages and resources. Alternatively, if you wish to remove an individual item, you can either delete the associated message or stop sharing the resource from the Shared Resources tab in the Customer Portal.
