Metal Grilles For Cabinet Doors – Kitchen • DIY Kitchen Projects How to Add Wire Mesh to Cabinet Doors (Easy and Cheap)

I finally finished the one and only DIY project in my kitchen that I had planned for this year, but with a twist. After I painted the kitchen cabinets last year, I didn’t put glass on the stove. Central cabinet door.

The four cabinets started out as regular cabinet doors, and during the original kitchen remodel, I cut out the middle panel and replaced them with glass cabinet doors. You can read more about how I did it here:

But I didn’t change the glass after I renovated my kitchen because I secretly installed a mesh grill for the four cabinet doors. It turned out to be expensive though. Have you seen the price of those wire grills? Those things are expensive! I mean hundreds of dollars like, $600-$800 for people I like, which is not fantasy. They are just simple “X” mesh designs I can’t bring myself to pay more for

I have seen where people have used different types of wire mesh that you buy in rolls at the home improvement store in the big box, such as hardware cloth or chicken wire. But I found those ropes to be very frustrating to work with. When they go in the road, they need to roll. Also, they all need to be sprayed. I usually don’t care about spray paint, but the thought of trying to spray a piece of steel mesh didn’t deter me.

So I was so excited when I found these wonderful metal pieces at Lowe’s the other day. I was just looking at Home Depot, and they were a tiny 12″ x 24″ that was too small for my cabinet doors. But Lowe’s has a large 24″ x 36″ piece in stock, and they even have one design in a gold/copper color. But the best part is that they come flat, so there is no fighting with the metal wire that you need to roll while you work with it. It is very easy to work with!

It comes as a choice between the quatrefoil design and this “X” design. I actually like the “X” design better, but decided to go with the quatrefoil because it comes from gold and doesn’t require spraying. It’s also a little thinner than the “X” design, so it’s easier to cut with a metal cutter. I’m not sure I’ll be able to cut the “X” design with a metal cutter.

My door is narrow, so I can get three pieces out of one panel. I bought two to complete all four cabinet doors.

To get the metal piece into the door, I put it inside the rabbet and then put a thick bead of hot glue on the edge. I did one side at a time, held it in my hand and pressed the bead of hot glue. That’s all I can do until the glue dries, and then move on. go That way I can make sure it stays flat inside the rabbit

It’s a very simple and quick project and it’s relatively cheap and since I put them on using hot glue, it will be very easy to change them out for other designs in the future, like the “X” pattern if I can find a way to cut them out, Or glass if I decide. . Look back at that
